Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media following Saturday’s 2-0 win at Wigan Athletic.

The Whites remain unbeaten after four matches of the 2018/19 campaign, following the victory, with three wins and a draw.

Bielsa was happy with the victory, which moved the Whites to the top of the Sky Bet Championship table.

“It was a deserved and fair result,” said Bielsa.

“We could have scored more goals and made a bigger difference.

“Playing with one player more is an important advantage, but we played with experience and played a balanced game.

“Maybe we could have shined a little bit more, it was a game to be careful of the free-kicks and we played with more calm in defence.

“For one striker to score goals is always going to be something very important because it’s positive for him and the confidence of the player.

“He could have scored two or three against Nottingham Forest too.

“Patrick Bamford is a player with high personality and of course, to score the goal it’s exciting for him.”

Bielsa also gave his overall assessment of the start to the new campaign.

He said: “The game against Nottingham Forest was a game that we deserved to win, today we played with one player more and in the first game, we played well, but conceded chances.

“In general, the performance of the side is increasing game by game.”
