Marcelo Bielsa has spoken with the media, following the 3-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

The head coach gave his own thoughts on the match, after the full-time whistle.

“The first 30 minutes of the first half was positive, the final 15 minutes of the first half were slightly more even,” Bielsa explained.

“In the first 15 minutes of the second half, it was our most difficult moment when they were better than us.

“In the second half, of the second half, we started to dominate again. We had a good offensive production.

“Our opponents only created a few more chances than us, they came about through errors we could have avoided.

“We lost some balls when we were building up from the back and we weren’t winning the second balls on the set-pieces.

“We suffered a goal from a set-piece and in the game we created 10 chances but didn’t score any goals, our opponents created 12 but scored three.

“For me the fundamental difference was the efficiency and the fact their offensive game came about through errors we could have avoided.”

Bielsa felt his side showed improvements, comparing the match with other tough opponents his side have already faced away from home this season.

He said: “I felt we showed we can defend against some top forwards.

“But, the situations that came about from us made it very difficult to defend in our own half. This is where we must polish our performance.

“This game is comparable to the ones we had against Chelsea and Manchester United, in that sense we have improved.

“Today we were in conditions to have a closer game, so the margins weren’t so big.

“We didn’t manage it because we suffered in some occasions, making mistakes that can be avoided."
