The match officials for Leeds United’s Premier League clash with Manchester City on Saturday have been announced, with Peter Bankes set to take charge at Elland Road.
The Select Group official is in his seventh season in the Premier League. In that time, the 43-year-old has overseen 112 top-flight matches beginning with a 2019 meeting between Leicester City and Bournemouth.
The Merseyside-native has worked his way up the English football pyramid, with almost 200 EFL league matches officiated. He also oversaw the second leg of the League Cup Semi-Finals between Arsenal and Chelsea this season, with the Gunners winning 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium at the beginning of February.
In their 25 matches refereed by Bankes, the Whites have won 10 and drawn four. This season, the official has overseen three Leeds matches – the 0-0 draw at home with Newcastle, the thrilling 3-1 defeat of Nottingham Forest just weeks ago and the reverse fixture at the Etihad, where Man City won 3-2.
The Sky Blues, meanwhile, have five wins and one draw in their 11 matches refereed by Bankes. In their last away fixture to include him, City lost 5-1 to Arsenal last season.
Keeping up with the action from Stockley Park is Video Assistant Referee Paul Howard and Additional VAR Sian Massey-Ellis.
