The match officials for Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Brighton have been announced, with Stuart Attwell set to take charge at the Amex.
The 43-year-old began the new campaign with a UEFA Conference League Qualifying tie between Qarabağ and Dynamo Kyiv before overseeing the dramatic late draw between Newcastle United and Liverpool on the Premier League’s opening weekend.
Vastly experienced at the top of the game, Attwell has refereed 244 Premier League games and was in the middle for the 2025 FA Cup Final.
The Whites have a mixed record from their 25 fixtures to involve Attwell, winning 12 of those and drawing on three occasions. Three of those fixtures came last term, including a memorable 2-1 home victory over West Ham United at Elland Road that brought goals from Brenden Aaronson and Joe Rodon.
Brighton, meanwhile, have won 13 of 31 matches officiated by the Warwickshire-based referee, losing 10 times. Most recently, the Seagulls drew 2-2 with Tottenham towards the end of the previous season.
Running the touchlines are Constantine Hatzidakis and Nick Hopton with John Busby appointed as Fourth Official. Keeping up with the action from Stockley Park is VAR James Bell and Additional VAR Edward Smart.
