Leeds United defender Luke Ayling spoke to LUTV following Monday’s defeat against Wolves.
The Whites suffered a first home defeat of the season in the Premier League, with Raul Jimenez’s deflected strike earning Nuno Espirito Santo’s side all three points.
Ayling gave his reflection on the game and is now looking ahead in a positive manner to Friday’s clash with Aston Villa at Villa Park.
“I think we’re still learning, we’re only five games into a new season and I think we’ve learnt we need to take our chances when they come along,” said Ayling.
“I thought we had some good chances and they’ve probably had two really good chances and taken one of them.
“We started well, we got in down the sides a lot and they changed their shape a bit and changed things around a bit and caused us a few problems in the second half.
“I think we started slow in the second half and you can’t afford to do in the Premier League and we got punished.
“You never like losing a goal like that, it was a bit of a nothing shot from the edge of the box which the goalkeeper would have probably saved and it takes a big deflection, but that is football and these things can happen.”
“It’s a little lesson learnt, but we can’t sit around and dwell on it for too long, we’ve got a game on Friday now, it’s a very quick turnaround which is nice, we’ll put it to bed and move on.
Ayling also spoke about captain Liam Cooper who had to pull out of the starting line-up after suffering a strain in the warm-up.
“We knew Liam was touch and go for the game, he worked really hard to even have a chance of playing and unfortunately it came around too quickly.
“Pascal trained in there all week, he knew he was going to have a chance of playing, so he came in and played very well.
“It was a bit of a hard one to take, but these things can happen.”
