Leeds United’s 2025/26 season produced another memorable night on Tuesday, as the Whites came back from two goals down against Club World Cup champions Chelsea to secure a crucial point in London.
Lukas Nmecha opened the scoring for Leeds at Stamford Bridge as he clinically converted from the spot, before Noah Okafor netted minutes later, tapping into an empty net.
The striker is now on six goals this campaign and spoke to the media after the game.
“A point here is very respectable,” Nmecha said. “We are in a fight to stay in this league, and I think we are doing well.
“It is amazing, in the first half, we did not really feel like we got close. They were really good in midfield, overloading areas, and we tried to press them all over the pitch, but they found good solutions.
“We just kept going and we got our reward. We worked our socks off today and it paid off.
“Chelsea are very talented but they are still a young group, so we tried to use the momentum to smother them and for the last ten or fifteen minutes we had to grind it out and we did.
“I am confident on penalties,” the forward added. “I was just pleased that we had gotten it. And to get that last goal from Noah showed our hard work. We pressed them and we just tried to choke them out and it worked.
“I have never been at a club quite like this, with these fans. It is really an amazing honour to play for them. I think we have had belief from the beginning of the season, even when the results were not going our way, that we are a good group.”
“I am really proud of the boys today.”
