Leeds United Academy defender Jayden Lienou has been selected in the Wales U19 squad for this summer’s UEFA European Under-19 Championship, taking place in North Wales between 28 June and 11 July.

Wales U19 head coach Chris Gunter has named a 20-player squad for the tournament, with Cymru set to compete in a major finals for the fourth time at this age group.

Lienou, 18, has already been involved in senior international and club environments this year, having been part of Craig Bellamy’s squad in June and named on the bench for Wales’ friendly against Ghana.

He has also been on the bench for Leeds United in Premier League fixtures against Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton, and has made 27 Academy appearances across multiple competitions last season.

Cymru will open their campaign against nine-time champions Spain U19 at the Racecourse Ground on Sunday 28 June (6pm), before facing former winners Germany U19 at the same venue on Wednesday 1 July (8pm).

Their final group fixture comes against Denmark U19 on Saturday, 4 July (2pm), also at the Racecourse Ground, as Wales look to progress to the knockout stages of a major tournament on home soil.
