Liam Cooper gave his reaction to an ‘unbelievable’ win at home to AFC Bournemouth, where his side came from 3-1 down to win 4-3 late in the match, after scoring an important goal himself to level the scores.
The skipper was full of praise for the side, but has now challenged them to keep going after securing back to back victories in the Premier League.
“It was unbelievable,” Cooper said, after the match.
“We were in the ascendency again, then gave it away. You could feel the frustration in the ground, but as a group we keep going and keep going.
“We pushed and we pushed, then we’ve scored a lot of good goals, the dressing room is buzzing, we’re delighted with that.
“We have got to keep pushing, we know we have got a long way to go and that will be the message to the boys, we’ll keep going.
“We’ll enjoy this win with our fans, then we’ll go again. It’s a great result for us, it’s back to back wins which is difficult in this league.”
The captain was asked about the younger players in the squad, who all made an impact in Saturday’s victory whether they started or came on in the match.
He said: “All the boys off the bench came on and got stuck in, they gave us a real driving force going forward.
“Willy, Sam, Joffy, all the boys who came on were unbelievable and they can be proud of themselves today.
“Then, we see it day in day out with Cry [Summerville] in training, Jesse has just been waiting for the chance to put him in, and he’s been unbelievable.
“He has got to keep pushing, keep striving to be better, we’ll look after him. He’s going to have an unbelievable career and we’re delighted to have him here.”
