Leeds United Under-21s will compete in the inaugural edition of the National League Cup.

The 32 team competition pits 16 Premier League 2 sides against National League opposition, split into four regional groups of eight teams.

Each group will include four PL2 teams and four from the National League, with the Whites’ four fixtures all coming away against the fifth-tier sides.

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockout phase, which starts from the quarter-finals stage and will all be standalone fixtures.

Leeds kick off their campaign with a trip to The Jakemans Community Stadium to face Boston United on Tuesday 1st October.

Scott Gardner’s side will also travel to Gateshead on Wednesday 6th November, FC Halifax Town on Tuesday 3rd December and Tamworth on Tuesday 21st January. Please note that fixtures are subject to change.

Leeds are also joined in Group C by Newcastle United, Sunderland and Middlesbrough’s U21s sides, but will only face National League opposition.
