Leeds United will once again show their support for World Cancer Day this weekend, along with our official charity partner Yorkshire Cancer Research.
The club have built a special relationship with Yorkshire Cancer Research over the last couple of years, and together we are paying tribute to our supporters both in Yorkshire and across the world who have been affected by cancer, in one way or another.
World Cancer Day is an international event that is marked on the 4th February every year to raise awareness of cancer, uniting communities to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment – all things that Yorkshire Cancer Research work tirelessly on week in and week out.
To help show our support for the annual campaign, and to also help raise vital awareness, Leeds United’s first-team players will be wearing branded t-shirts to warm-up in on Sunday afternoon, ahead of their Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest.
The club have continued to work closely with the local charity over the course of the 2022/23 season, sharing personal stories, providing once-in-a-lifetime experiences for families who have been affected by the disease, and allowing supporters who are suffering with cancer to make special memories that they can remember forever.
We will also be dedicating an upcoming game at Elland Road to Yorkshire Cancer Research, with lots of activities to raise further awareness around the incredible work they are doing.
Yorkshire Cancer Research continue to be dedicated to funding world-leading research to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, and if you would like more information about the charity and its partnership with Leeds United, please visit ycr.org.uk/lufc.
