Leeds United is pleased to announce the opening of a sensory room at Elland Road.
The brand-new sensory room is situated within one of the South Stand boxes, and the space has been specially designed for any young children or adults with sensory processing issues that may otherwise discourage them and their families from attending a match.
This new facility offers a full, unrestricted view of the pitch, creating a safe and controlled environment for supporters to watch the game, and also offers a safe option for anyone who may experience issues during a match in offering a quiet space within the grounds of the stadium.
This dedicated sensory space will now be in use throughout the rest of the current season and those beyond, with a trial run taking place during the recent fixture against Manchester City.
One of the families who used the facility, commented: “Firstly, we would like to say a huge thank you to Leeds United for allowing us to experience the new sensory room. The whole experience was amazing and certainly exceeded our expectations.
“The room itself was set up really well, not too cluttered and enough room for people to move around. The ability to open and close the windows also helped reassure our son that if it was too loud, there was an option to reduce the noise level. He especially loved the fact he was inside but could still experience the whole atmosphere.
“The whole experience, including the entry, really helped to reduce any anxiety, especially the lack of crowds, queues and turnstiles. Overall it was a great experience that won’t be forgotten, thank you once again.”
The club is dedicated to providing an experience tailored to each fan’s requirements to try and make their time spent in the sensory room as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, and this is all part of the club’s long-standing commitment towards an inclusive environment for all of our supporters that want to watch matches and visit Elland Road.
