Leeds United have released a special 2023 Christmas advert ahead of the festive season, which explores a heartwarming story of a brother and sister’s united love for the club.
The advert details the two siblings transition through life, brilliantly portraying the importance of Leeds United and Elland Road to their family life, as a constant connection that never goes away.
Set to a delicate cover of the classic synth-pop track 'True Colors', which was originally made famous by Cyndi Lauper and licensed by Sony Music, this cover was delivered by British singer/songwriter Jenny Plant who delivers moving vocals with an emotive and touching piano accompaniment.
The advert was produced in partnership with Toolebox Films, and centres around the changing relationship between a younger brother and his sister as she departs for University, seemingly leaving her Leeds United memories and life behind her. However, with the help of the brother and two surprise retail assistants in Georginio Rutter and Archie Gray, the boy manages to reconnect with his sister at such a special time of year, as she finally embraces her ‘True Colors.’
Aaron Duckmanton, Global Head of Digital, Content & Marketing at Leeds United, said: “Our Christmas ad campaign is a fantastic way for us to tell a story that really connects with Leeds United fans and the city. This is a great story, brought to life with a fantastic soundtrack that relates to the fact that the club is such an important part of family life and the memories we create, and we should always show our true colours.”
