Leeds United Foundation Take Player Development Camp to Norway

Charity heads overseas.

Foundation Norway camp

The Leeds United Foundation have returned to Norway, delivering a weekend player development camp at Holeværingen as part of their growing international programme.

Boys and girls aged 8 to 15, representing clubs from across the region, travelled to take part in a coaching programme designed to give them a taste of what it’s like to be a Leeds United player and learn to play the Leeds United way.

The trip marks the ninth Foundation visit to Norway in the past 12 months, made possible through the support of key regional partner CIFA. Brent Wood, CEO of CIFA, said: “We work incredibly hard to build partnerships with like clubs across Scandinavia and our most recent partnership here at Holeværingen has allowed us to bring the Leeds United Foundation back to Norway for the ninth time in the past 12 months. We already have a packed calendar for the rest of 2026 and beyond, with more Leeds United trips to the region planned.”

Stein Ove, Head of Football at Holeværingen, added: “We’re thrilled to have been able to get this first programme off the ground with Leeds United Foundation and look forward to developing more opportunities for our players, coaches and the wider community, both here in Norway and over in the UK.”

Laurie Griffin, Head of International at the Foundation, said: “Myself and the team have had a fantastic few days in Norway and this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of CIFA and Holeværingen, partners who share the same vision and values as us when it comes to developing young people. The players and parents we met were incredibly passionate about their football and we’re pleased to have given them a taste of what it means to be a Leeds United player.”

The Foundation’s international programme shows no signs of slowing down. Later this month, more than 60 players from Norway, Sweden and Denmark will travel to Leeds as part of the CIFA Academy Tour, an experience that will include watching the first team in action and playing against local opposition.
