Kath Smith gave Leeds United Women the lead over Stockport County Ladies five minutes into the second half on Sunday afternoon, before a late header from the hosts shared the spoils in final day action at Edgeley Park.
After the match, Smith gave her thoughts to LUTV: "It was a game of two halves. We probably didn't start as well as we could have but we were trying to work out what they were doing.
"Thankfully, we came out the second half and we were loads better, a completely different side, and then it's just the same story this season. We couldn't get the ball in the back of the net.
"If I'm honest, it probably shows why we didn't get promoted. At times we have been really good this season - we have competed with the top of the league and beaten really good teams.
"It's probably just that consistency, and being able to do it without fault and with perfection."
On the West Riding FA County Cup final in two weeks time, the midfielder added: "It would be nice to win it back-to-back. We've got the best group of girls that we've ever had here, so to win a trophy with them again is the icing on the cake for the season.
"The fans have been unreal all season. We feel the support week in, week out. A massive thank-you for supporting us."
