Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips spoke to the media following Saturday’s draw with Manchester City.
Phillips helped Leeds come from behind to earn a draw against last season’s Premier League runners-up in very wet conditions at Elland Road.
Phillips spoke about the match and was pleased the Whites were able to earn a point.
“It was hard work,” said Phillips.
“We knew they were a very good offensive team, but we knew they had weaknesses defensively.
“I think in the second half we came out on top a little bit and had a few chances, which you don’t really get often when you are playing good teams like that.
“I think we gave them a little bit too much respect in the first 20 minutes, we won the ball back a couple of times in the first half and thought we could have a go at them.
“A lot of the play goes through me and they set up to try and catch me out and they did in the first half.
“I knew I had to change my game up, get on the ball in different ways and in the second half I thought the other midfielders did that well as well.
“We came out in the second half, made a couple of good tackles, counter-attacked and I thought we did well.
“Man City were always going to come here wanting to win and we didn’t want to lose.
“We’re a team which is very attacking and so are they, so it was end to end stuff, but I thought we did well as a team.
“We’re happy to get a point on the board and it was great to contest against a really good side.”
