Awarded his JD Sports Player of the Month trophy on Thursday afternoon, Junior Firpo couldn't thank the thousands of fans who voted him enough, saying "it feels really good to have been chosen for this award".
After exciting the Leeds faithful with a goal and five assists during February, the Dominican Republic international showered praise on them, stating that "the fans have always shown their love to me. I'm really grateful and appreciative of their support for us, whether it's at home or away, they're always unbelievable. I just want to continue performing for them as I have been."
With the Whites hitting their stride in February starting off with a 7-0 win over Cardiff and ending with a sensational 3-1 win against second-place Sheffield United, Firpo believes the side's form boils down to the togetherness within the squad.
"Working as part of a team, it really feels like we've all been going in the same direction. We're pushing on together, we're doing really really well and we're getting closer to our target."
Asked what his favourite moment in February was, it'll be of little surprise to fans what that might be.
"There's a few to be fair. It's been a really good month, but I'd have to say the win against Sheffield United. Getting the equaliser and bringing the score back to 1-1, it felt like a pretty decisive moment. The atmosphere played a really big part as well. Winning games that late is not something that is usual, but the fans gave us that extra boost, that little bit extra in the legs during the last few minutes, which really enabled us to win the game. So yeah, I'd say that was my favourite moment."
As we ask our final question before letting the defender head off to training, a big smile flashes across his face. The chant! How does it feel to hear fans belt out a rendition of "His name is Junior, Junior Firpo!"?
"Haha! It's a really good song! Obviously with it being sung for me, it's going to be my favourite, but it feels great to hear it and I hope they keep singing it for a long time."
