Leeds United are delighted to announce the signing of Joe Rodon from Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee.
The defender rejoins the Whites after an impressive year on loan at Elland Road in the 2023/24 season and he has now agreed a four-year-deal, running until the summer of 2028.
After progressing through the academy at Swansea City and into the first team, Rodon made his debut for his hometown club in 2018, before going on to make over 50 appearances for the South Wales outfit.
As well as cementing his place with the Swans, Rodon was then called up to play for his country, making his debut in 2019.
Having played an integral part as the Dragons qualified for UEFA Euro 2020, Joe then went on to make history for his country, qualifying for the 2022 World Cup, which was the first time the nation had made it onto the world stage since 1958.
The 26-year-old is fast approaching 50 international appearances for his country and has gained a huge amount of experience across that time.
Rodon’s consistent performances at both Sky Bet Championship and international level attracted interest elsewhere and he went on to sign for Spurs in the Premier League in 2020.
After furthering his game and playing in the top-flight, Rodon would then join Ligue 1 side Rennes on loan, which saw him add Europa League football to his experiences whilst abroad.
In the 2023/24 season, the Welsh international joined Daniel Farke’s side for the campaign and became a mainstay in the heart of the defence, making 50 appearances in all competitions.
After becoming a fan favourite at Elland Road, Rodon has now turned his loan into a permanent move, becoming the first summer signing for the Whites ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
