In this weekend’s matchday programme, we sat down for an exclusive chat ahead of the Elland Road opener against Brentford with centre-half Jaka Bijol.

The full discussion can be read in Sunday’s upcoming edition but focussing on the challenge of facing the Bees, our Slovenian international is expecting a stern test against Keith Andrews’ side.

“They have had two really good results already” the defender explained. “I think it is always really hard to play against Brentford.

“Last season we saw that and now they are coming with a lot of confidence from the results they have had. They have a lot of quality.

“They all know how to play in their style. I think every player really buys into it and they really know what to do on the pitch.

“But we will be ready, we will prepare for them and I think we can be confident in ourselves as well. It is going to be a game with a lot of intensity.

“It is going to be amazing again, for sure, in front of Elland Road. It gives us an extra energy that we will need as well on Sunday. I am really buzzing about that and looking forward to the game.”
