Leeds United Women secured the West Yorkshire derby bragging rights for a second time this season earlier today, defeating Huddersfield Town Women 3-1 away from home in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

Sian Gibrill-Keating’s opener, Izzy Elliott’s strike just after the second half restart, and Drew Greene’s late finish secured progression to the third round proper of the competition.

After beating the Terriers, Whites defender Elliott said: “It’s great. We’ve worked really hard in training and games leading up to it - we’ve done well. I’m just glad to get the performance and the win so it’s a really great feeling.

“It’s really good,” Elliott added on getting herself on the scoresheet. “Coming back from injury, I’ve just got back playing and getting into it again so it’s really good.”

On returning to winning ways following a narrow FA WNL Cup exit: “It’s really important. I think we all came from it knowing what we needed to work on, but putting everything in from training and showing it’s worked out well.

“I think all the girls know what they need to work on, we will keep working. Obviously we’ve won but there’s still stuff to work on which all the girls know, but it’s a really good feeling and it keeps everyone’s head tied to going into the next game.”
