Ipswich Town: Match officials appointed

Appointments confirmed for Saturday’s fixture.

The match officials for Leeds United’s Sky Bet Championship away clash against Ipswich Town on Saturday have been announced, with Bobby Madley set to be the man in the middle.

The Wakefield born and West Riding FA based official, is part of the Select Group 2 list of referees.  He has refereed in the EFL since 2010, before promotion to the Premier League in 2013-2018.  He returned to officiating in the EFL in 2020.

Madley has only ever taken charge of one game involving Leeds United, which came in April 2015, with the Whites recording a 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.  Four yellow cards were shown in the fixture, with Leeds duo Sol Bamba and Luke Murphy picking up bookings.

He has taken charge of Ipswich Town previously on six occasions, overseeing two wins, two draws and two losses.  His last Ipswich match came in January 2022, a 2-0 away League One defeat at Bolton Wanderers.

This season, Madley was the man in the middle of the Sky Bet Championship opener between Sheffield Wednesday and Southampton, brandishing  eight yellow cards, whilst his first dismissal of the campaign was Rotherham United’s Fred Onyedinma in their 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers.
