Matchday staff training

Leeds United’s matchday staff recently attended a pre-season compulsory training day, as the club continues its commitment to ensuring the Elland Road experience is safe and enjoyable for all.

Organised by The Head of Matchday Safety and Security, a total of 250 members of our matchday team and a variety of guest speakers were in attendance, with presentations and workshops held throughout the day, starting with introductions from the Matchday Senior Management Team, and Safeguarding Refresher Training delivered by the club's Head of Safeguarding and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion.

The morning continued with a police briefing from Bryn Stokes, Leeds United's Dedicated Football Officer at West Yorkshire Police, before focusing on Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity, as well as Counter Terrorism.

The club’s commitment to ensuring Elland Road is accessible for all was on display as Daniel Townley from Level Playing Field delivered Disability Awareness Training, looking at nonvisible disabilities, what is expected of organisations to assist people with disabilities, environments and how they impact people, and other important topics.

The day concluded with a presentation from mental health charity, Andy’s Man Club, as they highlighted their work in the fight against male suicide, speaking about the support they offer and how people can get involved with the charity.

The session was compulsory for the 250 members of the Leeds United matchday staff team in attendance, with an additional 100 staff to attend another training session later this month.

A mid-season follow up will also be held in January, with the club dedicated to ensuring staff partake in ongoing training sessions and formal safety and security qualifications throughout the season.
