Leeds United defender Gaetano Berardi spoke to LUTV following Saturday’s pre-season match against Italian opposition Cagliari Calcio.

Berardi completed the full 90 minutes at the Sardegna Arena in tough heat conditions, as the Whites played out a 1-1 draw.

The game was the last pre-season match for Marcelo Bielsa’s side ahead of the new season and the defender felt it was another decent run out.

“It was a test for everybody, another 90 minutes and a good game,” said Berardi.

“We could’ve won which is a little bit disappointing, we realised during the match we could win it, so we know we can do better, but at the end of the day it’s been a positive game.

“We are trying to do what Marcelo wants and it was nice to play against a good team and I think we showed we can do it very well.

“Finally we are there, it’s the last week and we will start the campaign.

“It’s been a long and tough pre-season, but I think we are ready.”
