The FA have announced the club allocations for the 2024/25 FAWNL Division One North campaign, with 12 teams set to fight it out for promotion to the Northern Premier Division.
Last season's contingent are joined by four new teams, with Barnsley FC Ladies and Cheadle Town Stingers winning the North East and North West Regional Women’s Football Leagues respectively.
Barnsley FC will replace local rivals Barnsley Women's FC, who have laterally moved to the FAWNL Division One Midlands due to league restructuring.
The Tykes came out on top in a tight race for promotion, edging Spennymoor Town and Bradford City to be crowned champions.
Cheadle, meanwhile, stormed to success in their league, winning 18 out 20 matches to finish 15 points clear of second-placed Blackburn Community Women.
In what was a difficult season for both sides relegated from the Northern Premier Division, AFC Fylde and Huddersfield Town will be keen to fight for promotion back to the third tier at the first time of asking.
A trip to the west coast awaits for Simon Wood’s Whites to face Fylde, whilst the Terriers’ relegation sets up two West Yorkshire derbies for players and supporters to enjoy.
