Leeds United bolstered their attacking options with the loan arrival of Argentina international Facundo Buonanotte.
Having spent the first half of the campaign with Chelsea, the creative spark links up with Daniel Farke’s squad from Brighton & Hove Albion until the end of the season.
Below are eight facts and figures about our latest recruit...
Buonanotte began his career in his homeland with Rosario Central. The city has been a hotbed of talent, notably producing the legendary Lionel Messi and former Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa, alongside Ángel Di María who started with Rosario Central and has since returned to the club.
The forward made his professional debut aged just 17 for his boyhood team in the Argentine League Cup. A first goal would follow on league duties against Sarmiento Junin – the effort proving the difference in a 1-0 victory for Los Guerreros. Buonanotte would go on to finish his maiden campaign with four goals in Argentina’s top-flight!
Generating interest from Europe, it was Brighton that came calling for the fledgling attacker’s signature in 2023. A first outing in the Premier League came in an all-South Coast affair with AFC Bournemouth and a first goal arrived at the City Ground against Nottingham Forest.
The 21-year-old made 50 appearances in all competitions for the Seagulls and spent last campaign on loan at Leicester City. A bright spark in a tough year for the Foxes, Facundo netted six times and registered three assists!
At the King Power in the previous term, Facundo shared the pitch 30 times with United defender James Justin, with the duo combining for three goals – against Arsenal and Bournemouth in the Premier League and Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup.
Spending the first half of the current season with Chelsea, Facundo brings further top-level experience after featuring three times in the UEFA Champions League. The creative, yet versatile, attacking midfielder started in victories over powerhouses Benfica and Ajax, as well as facing Qarabag.
Our new arrival has made two appearances for his country’s national team. Facundo made his debut for the reigning World Cup champions in 2023 in a 2-0 friendly victory over Indonesia, before competing with El Salvador the following calendar year.
Buonanotte becomes the fourth player from the South American country to represent the Whites, after Alex Sabella, Fede Bessone and cult-hero Luciano Becchio!
