Ethan Ampadu: We are going to rally

Skipper reflects on narrow defeat.

Ampadu Fulham Away

Speaking after his side fell to a last-gasp defeat at Fulham, Leeds United captain Ethan Ampadu believes the team can take positives from the encounter.

Having put in a hard-working display at Craven Cottage, an injury time winner for the hosts denied the Whites a point in the capital but the skipper is confident the side can bounce back next weekend.

“Disappointed,” the Wales international began. “But there is a lot in that performance that we can take as a baseline for the rest of the season with us.

“Obviously, at the end, the end result is what matters so we are hurt, we are gutted but it is a very long season. We have got stuff to improve on, we have got stuff to take on but we are going to enjoy the ride.

“We had a couple of chances on a counter-attack. There is a lot to take from that and to be positive with.

“Obviously, like I said, we are going to be disappointed and it is going to hurt tonight but from tomorrow on, we have got to crack on and get full focus. It is as simple as that. Like I said, we are going to be hurt now.

“It is the Premier League, home or away, no game is easy. It is the league that we want to thrive in. It is the league that we want to show ourselves in and next week is an opportunity to do that.

“We want to change the result from today so we are going to push, we are going to rally and we are going to keep going.”
