Elland Road will play host to Leeds United Women’s FA WNL Division One North fixture with York City Ladies this Sunday.
The Whites go into the tie in imperious form, having won their last five league fixtures to sit just one point adrift of table-topping Middlesbrough.
Crucial at the back for Simon Wood’s side in their most recent victory, a hard-fought 3-2 success away at Chorley, was Ellie Dobson, who made a series of crucial interventions to help the team over the line.
“It was definitely a game of two halves,” the versatile midfielder, used in the heart of the defence on the day, explained.
“I thought we were class the first half. We very much matched them player-to-player and came out on top.
“Everybody did their bit and made it 3-0 that could have easily been more, which is a game I think we have needed for a while because we have proved with the stats that we can score goals.
“But Chorley are a really good team and obviously they have got good coaching staff because their game plan in the second half turned the match around.
“They threw the kitchen sink at us and went for it. We were on the back foot for quite a lot of it but we managed to weather the storm and get the three points which was great.
“I think it shows how we have grown a lot as a team, definitely. It is something that we have been working on and we have talked about. We all fully stuck together and saw the game out.
“It is nice that when we have watched it back, you can see people working their socks off, giving 100 per cent and getting straight back in when they lose the ball.”
Dobson and her teammates are all excited to play in front of a bumper crowd at Elland Road she admits, but the 29-year-old isn’t taking anything for granted when they step out onto the pitch.
“There were some interesting results at the weekend, but it just shows throughout the season that anybody can beat anybody in this league. No three points are guaranteed, which is why we are just taking it game by game.
“What an opportunity, though. It is nice to have sold more tickets than normal and to get people down to support us. It means the world that people are going out of their way to come and watch us.
“It will mean a lot to everybody in the team. It is not something that you do every week, so it will be really special.
“It definitely does give us even more motivation, but we will try our best to play the game, not the occasion, because the league is the main thing. We need the three points at the end of the day, so having more people there cheering us on will hopefully push us over the line.”
