Elland Road hosts Chanukah celebrations

Club holds event for Jewish Festival of Light.

Chanukah celebration

Recently, the Leeds United Jewish Supporters Group held a Chanukah celebration at Elland Road, welcoming over 250 attendees for the Jewish Festival of Light.

The event provided an opportunity to learn about the festival, enjoy some traditional treats, and witness the pitchside Menorah lighting.

Members of Leeds United and the Leeds United Foundation made appearances at the event, such as Chief Business Officer Morrie Eisenburg and Foundation CEO Frances Milner, as well as Club Ambassador and special guest Stuart Dallas, who took part in a Q&A session.

After introducing the event, people made their way to the stand, where they sang traditional hymns and lit the Menorah, which the guests took part in. A raffle was also held, with all proceeds going to the Leeds United Foundation.

After the event, Frances commented: “Thank you so much to the Leeds United Jewish Supporter Committee for choosing to support the Leeds United Foundation through their recent Chanukah celebrations, we were delighted to be part of this very special evening at Elland Road."

Ben Lyons, Chairman of the Jewish Supporters Group, added: “Our Leeds United Jewish Supporters Group would like the thank the club for hosting our annual Chanukah Party at Elland Road. Over 250 attendees thoroughly enjoyed a vibrant atmosphere in the Bremner Suite, where Leeds United legend Stuart Dallas was the special guest.

“This was followed by pitchside Menorah lighting to commemorate our Festival of Light. We’re delighted to donate the money raised to the Leeds United Foundation to go towards their fantastic community work.”

Leeds United’s fanbase is made up of a wonderfully diverse range of cultures, faiths and backgrounds. This event was open to everyone, whether you personally celebrate Chanukah or just wanted to join in, connect with others and enjoy the atmosphere.
