The match officials for Leeds United’s Premier League clash with Liverpool on New Year’s Day have been announced, with Christopher Kavanagh set to take charge at Anfield.
The Select Group official is in his tenth season in the Premier League. In that time, the 40-year-old has overseen 177 top-flight matches beginning with a 2017 meeting between West Bromwich Albion and Southampton.
The Manchester-native has worked his way up the English football pyramid, with more than 100 EFL league matches officiated. In their 22 games refereed by Kavanagh, the Whites have won nine times and drawn on four occasions.
The Reds, meanwhile, have recorded 17 wins in their 27 matches officiated by the referee, drawing three. In their last match to involve Kavanagh, Liverpool lost 3-0 away to Manchester City in November.
On the official’s last match in charge of Leeds United, the Whites beat Everton 1-0 at Elland Road on the opening day of this campaign, with Lukas Nmecha converting from the penalty spot.
