Paige Williams and Rebekah Bass made a special visit to Meadowfield Primary School earlier this week to join some young students during one of their Healthy Holidays sessions with the Leeds United Foundation.
The Healthy Holidays programme is delivered across a number of local primary schools throughout half-term breaks and involves both educational workshops and multi-sports activities. The sessions are delivered by coaches from the club’s official charity to children that live in some of the more deprived areas of Leeds, to ensure they are staying safe and active whilst also ensuring they have enough food to support their families through the school holiday periods, by providing breakfast, lunch and food hampers to take home with them.
During the recent session on Halton Moor Avenue, the Leeds United Women's duo were on hand to take part in a game of football with the youngsters, before taking part in a Q and A session with the children, answering a number of questions around Leeds United, playing football, and life outside of football.
The Healthy Holidays initiative is a free course provision for primary school aged children, and it is currently being funded by the Leeds Community Fund and Arla. Throughout each half-term holiday, the youngsters involved in the daily sessions receive a special LUFC goody bag, breakfast and packed lunches, and a food hamper that they can take home for their family.
