It is six goals in five games for Leeds striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who grabbed a brace in the Whites’ dominant 4-1 win over Crystal Palace this weekend.
The England international’s goalscoring stretch now stands alone as the longest-running active streak in Europe’s top five leagues. For Calvert-Lewin, it is his best form since the 2020-21 season and, for United in the Premier League, their best since Mark Viduka more than 20 years ago.
After the match on Saturday, the attacker spoke to the media about his mindset during this fine run of form.
“The belief stays the same, my belief in myself is [the same] that I have always had,” Calvert-Lewin said.
“It just so happens that when you start hitting the back of the net it starts to pay off in a different way but nothing has changed for myself. Week on week, I just try to give my best for the team.
“I think when you are in a good moment and you are on a run, the ball stops dropping for you and that is where I am at the minute.
“I do not get carried away. My job remains the same whether I am scoring or not scoring. I will continue to do the basics well and lead the line for my team.
“The rest takes care of itself. In the six yard box, scoring, that is where I need to be.”
