Carrick Njinko admitted he and his team-mates were frustrated to not pick up three points against Stoke City Under-21s in the Premier League Cup group stages.

Leeds twice fought from behind through the attacker and Jayden Lienou, but were unable to grab a winner despite piling the pressure on late on against the Potters.

“Every game we go into we try to win,” the forward told LUTV. “Disappointing to come away with a draw because we thought we were dominating the game.

“Every game we have played this season, we think we have dominated but we come away with a result that we are not happy with, so we go again next game.

“We are a very good group this season. I think that we could go very far in the competitions that we are playing. Our coaches encourage us to go into every game to win because they know what our group is and how good we are.

“I think we have come a long way and I think next game we have to try to get a win to bring the confidence back up. I have had a lot of support from the staff and the players. It has helped me get more used to the position and, yeah, it is helping me a lot withscoring goals.”

Looking ahead to Tuesday’s trip to Hartlepool United in the National League Cup, Njinko added: “Like I said before, we go into every game trying to win the game.

“We know it is a senior team but we back our players and each other to go in and win it. Hopefully we can go there and get the three points.”
