Despite Leeds United Under-21s coming from behind twice to earn a draw with Stoke City Under-21s, boss Scott Gardner wasn’t overly pleased with his side’s display.

Goals from Carrick Njinko and Jayden Lienou ensured the spoils were shared with the Potters in Group I of the Premier League Cup. The Whites still have two fixtures remaining as they look to progress to the knockout stages.

“Definitely not a good point,” the coach explained after the full-time whistle in Guiseley. “They played some lovely stuff and I say this most weeks, but there has got to be more of an intent and more desire to want to win games.

“They have got to see the value in that if they want to go play in the senior game. We create a lot of chances, as normal, and had most of the ball. I want to see a greater determination for us to win more games and not just win but win by three or four. We have had a number of games this season where we could have won by four or five goals and we let teams back in.

“Everything that we are in, we want to win. We want to win every game. We want to win every competition that we are in.”

The Whites return to action on Tuesday evening as they travel to Hartlepool United in the National League Cup.
