Diego Llorente scored an 87th minute equaliser for the Whites, at home to Liverpool on Monday evening.
The defender rose highest from a Jack Harrison corner to head home, and he told LUTV after the match that the goal was dedicated to his grandpa, who very sadly passed away two months ago.
Llorente said: “The goal was very important for one person who left me two months ago, my grandpa. The goal was for my grandpa.
“I didn’t see the ball, Pascal [Struijk] said he almost got it! Finally I got a touch on the ball and it was a goal.”
On the game itself, Leeds dominated for large parts of the second half against the current Premier League champions, before getting a point which was fully deserved.
“Yeah, we’re very happy,” Llorente explained.
“I think we deserved the draw because the team did a great effort, all the team in the defence we are very good.
“Liverpool is a top team, their players are very good so we are very happy for the draw and to keep going.
“We had a lot of opportunities and their ‘keeper was very good. Patrick had a few opportunities, but I think these opportunities were important for us because finally I got the goal.
“Our goal is in each game, to do as well as possible. At the end of the season, we want to be high in the table.”
