Leeds United Women return to FA Women’s National League Division One North action on Sunday, welcoming Yorkshire rivals York City Ladies to Garforth.
Leeds are coming in off the back of a performance to be proud of, missing out on League Cup progression narrowly against tier-above West Bromwich Albion Women via penalties last weekend.
In the league however, the Whites are five unbeaten with four wins in that period, the latest coming away at Durham Cestria two weeks ago. Following this win, Simon Wood’s side are currently placed fourth in the table, only two points off top-spot Cheadle Town.
Ahead of the clash against York, Leeds fullback Darcie Greene said: “We're feeling really positive going into Sunday's game and looking forward to getting back into the league action.
“We know what York are capable of and what we need to do to minimise their strengths and hopefully come away with the three points.
“Sunday was a tough one to take because it didn't feel like a loss really,” Greene added on the defeat against West Brom. “Every single player left everything on the pitch and should be proud of themselves, but the league is the most important for us and every team we face we want to come away with three points and a win.
On the importance of increasing the league winning streak: “It's really important for us to keep the momentum, but we try not to put too much pressure on ourselves and just enjoy it because we know that's when we play our best football. But on Sunday, we'll definitely build on that.”
