Amy Woodruff secured the match ball with an excellent performance against Chester-le-Street Town Women on Sunday, netting three in the FA WNL Division One North clash.

Two games in and already five goals for the season, Woodruff was very happy with the performance and points on the board.

"I'm pleased with the hattrick, but more pleased with the three points. We carried the momentum on from last week.

"Overall a good performance this week. The second half we changed a lot, and getting that second goal just calmed it down a bit, and then the third goal just put it to bed.

"Yeah, it's quality," the centre-forward added on the Whites' ten-strong goal difference so far this term. "We've got benchmarks and standards that we're going to try and hit, and we're already smashing them so far, so it helps well.

"Not only the goals, it's how we're playing and building up. To have played the football we did and get the goals, how we got them, yeah, full credit to the team."

Our number 14 also appreciates the importance of the clean sheet: "That's just as important as the goals for us. It means a lot. It comes down to small margins at the end of the season, and by getting two clean sheets to start the season off, it's just what we need.

"We've got a lot of respect for each other, but we know the challenges Halifax bring," Woodruff commented on Thursday's cup clash against Halifax Women. "We've played them several times over the years and it's a good chance to rotate the squad with it being a cup game.

"Just more minutes in the legs, I think that's what we need, then move on to Sunday. Obviously have a short break, but we'll still do our homework when it comes back to the league."
