Daniel Farke: We know it will be a tough test

Manager previews Hatters clash with the media.

Farke Training March

Ahead of his side facing Luton Town away from home on Saturday lunchtime, Daniel Farke spoke to the media at Thorp Arch to preview the game.

The Whites will face the Hatters in an early kick-off, looking to return to winning ways after drawing last time out.

Luton will be looking to continue their recent form, having secured an important three points away at Hull City last weekend.

The boss began by giving an update on the fitness of his side.

He said: “Good news, all the players who were available for the last game came through and are also available for the weekend, so good news, no new injuries.

"Each and every game day, each and every day on the training pitch brings them [Max Wöber and Patrick Bamford] closer and is beneficial for them. They had also a good week of training and like I always say, also in the mix, yes."

On the game itself, Leeds haven’t visited Kenilworth Road since 2019, but did face off at Elland Road earlier this season. Farke is expecting a tough test, against a team who played in the top-flight the previous term.

“They have many, many players in their squad who have played in the Premier League last season. They have Premier League physicality and right now also a good run of form.

"They are fighting for survival and they know that they need each and every point and their game is always quite physical and intense, especially with some good results under their belt in the last weeks.

"We know it will be a tough test. We spoke about, of course, when there is this physical battle and there are many long balls and many long throw-ins and set pieces and fights for second balls, you have to accept the challenge and you have to adapt and show steel and resilience.

"In the last two games, we sadly have conceded two goals and of course we have to avoid this, but also to return back in dominating the game, dominating the ball, letting the opponent suffer as much as possible by chasing the ball.

"This is what we are trying to do. So, we need a good balance. We need to be ready for this physical challenge and to be aware of this."
