Ahead of Leeds United’s Premier League meeting with rivals Manchester United at Elland Road this weekend, manager Daniel Farke discussed who he has available following the quick turnaround since the New Year’s Day visit to Liverpool.
Notably, skipper Ethan Ampadu misses out through suspension, joining three teammates on the sidelines according to the boss.
“Sean Longstaff out, Joe Rodon out, Daniel James out, Ethan out,” the German explained in his press conference.
“Right now it is difficult but, so far, we have always tried also in moments when the adversity was against us.
“So first of all, we speak about the base formation, what we do. Then we decide the person, we also have a look who is recovered from the game – who can come in, will come in.
“Of course, we have some natural replacements like Ilia Gruev, for example, but we have to see how he recovers also from this workload and then see what we will do. So one thing is for sure, we will send definitely 11 players on the pitch.”
Alongside Bulgarian international Gruev, defender Sebastiaan Bornauw also left everything out there at Anfield, with Farke hoping the pair will be available for Sunday’s encounter.
“For Sebastiaan’s first game in the starting line-up, for Ilia, first game since a while, they have invested a lot.
“I hope they can recover quick and well, and we will see probably some late decisions also for Sunday when we have the earliest possible kick-off straight after breakfast, more or less. So, we will find solutions.”
