Dan James played 79 minutes against Huddersfield Town on Saturday and put in a scintillating performance, to come away with a brace.
The winger scored his first after just 20 minutes had been played, before following that up with a second in the 34th minute, to help his side go in with a four-goal advantage at the break.
Speaking after the game, James gave his thoughts to LUTV.
He said: “It was a great day for us.
“It was so important to have a big reaction from Wednesday [the loss at Stoke City]. We had a great win last Saturday [at Norwich], then went into Wednesday’s game and were very disappointed.
“Coming into a derby today was never going to be easy, but we got off to a great start and the goals kept coming."
The clinical nature of the team was a key element of the win, James felt, as his side continued to find the net in the first 45 minutes at Elland Road on Saturday.
“I think from the start of the season, we may have been on top in the first 20 or 30 minutes and not taken our chances,” he explained.
“Teams come here and think if they can get through the first 20 or 30 minutes, they can build themselves into the game.
“We didn’t let them do that today. We’ve got to keep creating chances, keep breaking teams down and we were excellent at that today.
“We’ve got a massive game on Friday now against the leaders [Leicester City], who are doing great this season.
“We’ve got a big week building into that and we’re looking forward to it.”
