Leeds United showed their support for the Level Playing Field Weeks of Action campaign at the Sky Bet Championship fixture against Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.
The Weeks of Action campaign has seen EFL clubs, Disabled Supporters Associations (DSAs) and fans coming together to show their commitment to promoting access and inclusion within sport and to help improve the experience for disabled supporters attending any EFL fixture.
Leeds United continue to work closely with the Leeds United Disabled Organisation (LUDO) to try and make Elland Road more accessible and disabled friendly to ensure anyone who wants to attend a game is able to do so comfortably. Since its inception, they have worked with the club to improve a number of disabled areas in the club, including increasing the amount of wheelchair spaces, creating a designated area for ambulant disabled fans, providing more disabled toilets and lower level counters along with offering an exclusive LUDO Lounge to be used on matchdays.
Away from Elland Road, the Leeds United Foundation work tirelessly in the local community to try and provide more opportunities for people with disabilities to take part in sport. As part of the Every Player Counts programme, an EFL Trust project funded by Wembley National Stadium Trust, over 11,000 new participants have been introduced to disability football, with coaches at the club's official charity delivering a number of different initiatives that involve hosting weekly football sessions with both disabled youngsters and adults.
Disabled people are the largest minority group in any population and with sport having such a unique capacity to bring people together it is essential that accessibility and inclusivity levels are improved to allow disabled people to participate fully.
