Leeds United defender Charlie Cresswell has spoken of his delight at being rewarded with a new contract.

The 19-year-old signed a new four-year-deal on Wednesday at Elland Road, committing his future to the club.

After captaining the Under-23s to the Premier League 2 Division 2 title last season, Cresswell is now hoping to keep improving going forwards.

“It feels great, I couldn’t be happier,” said Cresswell.

“I’ve been at the club since I was 11, so to sign a new deal here is fantastic.

“There have been lots of ups and downs on my journey so far, but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it and I’ve got to keep pushing on.

“It was great feeling winning the league with the Under-23s last season and now we’ve been promoted we want to go again this season.

“There are lots of players I look up to in the first team like Liam Cooper and Luke Ayling, they lead by example and that is what I want to try and follow.

“My targets for the next few years are to try and get into the first team eventually, but in this moment I have to push every day to the best of my ability and hopefully that takes me somewhere.”
