Brenden Aaronson had a debut to remember for Leeds United as his side ran out winners over Wolverhampton Wanderers on their opening day of the Premier League season.

Aaronson was a constant threat throughout the match and thought he had scored the winner on his debut, but the goal was eventually awarded as an own-goal from Rayan Aït-Nouri.

Nonetheless, the ball hit the back of the net and the Whites secured three points, which delighted the majority inside Elland Road and Aaronson had significantly contributed on his first appearance.

Speaking after the match, he said: “It’s always great to win!

“Winning at home, at Elland Road for my first time, what a wonderful experience for me and for the team to get the win today, it’s a great start to the season.

"You can tell how high the level is, everybody is so technical, Wolves were tough today.

“They moved the ball super well and they got it out to the other side which hurts us because we like to compress and keep it on one side so that was tough at one point.

"But we fought through it and we got the win and I think we were good on the counter attacks."

On the goal which secured the three points, Aaronson gave his views on whether he has opened his account for the club, and he was clear on who he feels should be credited with the winner.

"I touched it in there!” The midfielder stated.

"It was in there and it came off my shin somewhere in there so I'm taking credit for it.

"We've been working on it in training, this back post run, and you always have to be there.

“If I'm not there then the guy can maybe clear it or something, so just making this back post run helps.”
