Jaka Bijol Slovenia Montenego Mar 26 Captain

Leeds United defender Jaka Bijol captained Slovenia to an impressive 3-2 victory over Montenegro on Tuesday evening, rounding off a positive international break for the Whites centre-back.

Leading his country from the heart of defence, Bijol played the full 90 minutes in an entertaining encounter, demonstrating his composure, leadership, and defensive resilience throughout.

Montenegro made a strong start and went into the break with a 2-1 advantage, courtesy of a brace from Milutin Osmajic. Slovenia had briefly levelled through Zan Vipotnik’s strike in the 41st minute, ensuring a closely contested first half.

Slovenia responded brilliantly after the restart, with Danijel Sturm equalising just a minute into the second half. Vipotnik then added his second of the evening in the 55th minute, completing the turnaround and putting Bijol’s side 3-2 ahead.

From there, the Leeds United defender helped marshal the backline effectively, as Slovenia held firm to secure a well-earned victory.

The result marks a strong finish to the March international window for Bijol, who played every minute across Slovenia’s two fixtures. The defender had also featured for the full match in Saturday’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Hungary, underlining his importance and consistency on the international stage.
