Ao Tanaka POTM October 2024

Summer signing Ao Tanaka continues to impress, as thousands of Leeds United fans voted the Japanese international as their JD Sports Player of the Month for October.

The midfielder played every minute of every game in October, which saw the Whites go unbeaten in five games, with Tanaka picking up the Player of the Match award in the 2-1 win over Watford.

Praised for his attacking endeavour, during 450 minutes of play, Tanaka had 393 touches of the ball, successfully made 295 passes with a 91% accuracy rate, whilst winning 23 duels.

Such was the 26 year old's impact over the course of October, 54% of fans voted for him, ahead of his nearest challengers Largie Ramazani (11%), Joe Rothwell (8%) and Willy Gnonto (7%).

On receiving his award, before meeting up with the Japanese international team, Tanaka placed a large emphasis on the team for him winning this month's trophy presented by JD Sports.

"I'm really happy to get this award on a personal level, but the most important thing to me, is that we get the three points in every game.

"I can't thank my teammates and the coaching staff enough, they have been a massive support since I arrived and are always helping me. I'm really appreciative of their guidance and they're the reason why I've managed to get this award."

Tanaka was keen to thank the fans for their support since he joined the club, saying "They've been great and I want to score a goal as soon as possible for them."
