Leeds United star Anton Stach paid a very special visit to Temple Learning Academy on Friday to surprise youngster Daley with the opportunity to be a mascot at Wembley Stadium for our FA Cup Semi-Final on Sunday.
The German international was on hand to disrupt the students during an afternoon session, pretending to be a substitute teacher called Mr. Wembley, before calling Daley up to the front of the room to let him know about his upcoming trip.
The eight-year-old was taken aback by the news, with his shocked classmates behind him, but it wasn’t until he realised who was actually stood in front of him – a Leeds United first-team player, that he became overwhelmed with emotion surrounding the occasion.
Stach then handed over a personalised certificate to Daley, before the pupils watched highlights of the midfielders time with the Whites along with the man himself and then queued for his autograph.
Daley is a participant on the Leeds United Foundation’s Healthy Holidays programme, attending over the last three years and always turning up in his Leeds United kits full of energy.
The community initiative is hosted at a number of schools in Leeds during half-term breaks and offers support to families that may struggle across school holidays, with the programme available to children that usually receive free school meals.
Provided as part of Healthy Holidays are fun, interactive and educational sessions, with something different on offer every day with the Leeds United Foundation coaches, along with breakfast, lunch and food to takeaway at the end of the day. The Foundation has a great working relationship with Temple Learning Academy that they are thrilled to see continue.
The club are excited to see Daley walk out beside the first team at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon as we take on Chelsea in the Emirates FA Cup Semi-Final, and we hope he enjoys his special day out alongside his grandad.
