After coming off the bench at half-time and being told to make an impact on the game, Abbie Brown did just that on Sunday afternoon against Liverpool Feds.
The winger was introduced with the score level and went on to net a late winner which caused wild celebrations amongst her teammates.
The goal sent Leeds to the top of the table and relieved painful memories of the last fixture between the two teams, having suffered a similar scenario against them.
“The ball just fell to me in the box, I hit with my right foot and it nestled in the bottom corner, it feels really good!” Brown explained to LUTV.
“We can’t ask for anything better than that. It went our way this time and for that to have happened, it felt amazing.
“Even more so because they did exactly that to us last year, so it was great that it went our way this time.
“It feels amazing to be top of the league after winning the game.
“It’s only early days, but that is where we want to be, so hopefully we can keep this going and finish there at the end of the season.”
Brown was quick to praise fans at the match and the defence too, who have kept three clean sheets in a week, allowing the forward players to do the business at the other end.
She said: “We always build from the back, so for us it’s about scoring goals.
“We know we can keep the clean sheets, so that’s how you win a league, the defence have been brilliant.
“The atmosphere was brilliant today. To hear them at the end celebrating when the final whistle went, there is no better feeling.”
