Leeds United are thrilled to announce that Ao Tanaka has been named the Players’ Player of the Year for the 2024/25 campaign.

In an outstanding first campaign for the club, the Japanese international has been one of the standout performers across the division, playing a crucial role in helping Daniel Farke’s side secure the Sky Bet Championship title.

Brought in from 2. Bundesliga outfit Fortuna Düsseldorf last summer, the midfielder has made 45 appearances across all competitions for the Whites this term, scoring five goals.

One of those strikes has already seen the 26-year-old gain recognition this evening, with Ao’s stunning finish away against Hull City being voted by supporters as the club’s Goal of the Season.

Tanaka was also commended at the recent EFL Awards, being named in the Championship’s Team of the Season to crown a stellar start to his time in West Yorkshire.
