Preview: Crystal Palace vs Leeds United

Monday night football for the Whites!

Leeds United are back in action on Monday evening as they travel away from home to face Crystal Palace, live on Sky Sports (8pm).

The Whites go into the game after a being without a game since April 9th which was a comprehensive three-goal victory away at Watford. That win extended their unbeaten run to four matches.

Palace return to Selhurst Park after playing their last two games away from home. Closely contested defeats to Leicester and Newcastle were by the odd goal, both matches coming after back-to-back clean sheets on home turf against Arsenal and Manchester City, which saw the Eagles claim four points.

Patrick Vieiraโ€™s side are currently 14th in the Premier League table, just the four points ahead of Leeds. However, the Sound Londoners have two games in hand on their nearest rivals above them and two wins in those games could see them move back into the top half.

Mondayโ€™s hosts are aiming to continue a strong recent record against Leeds, having not lost at home in their last five outings, three wins and two draws. If Leeds can end that run, it would be a first league double over their opponents since 1994/95.

The all-important scenario down the bottom for Jesse Marschโ€™s side is clear, and thatโ€™s to keep focusing on your own matches, as the season conclusion edges closer. The Whites are in 16th spot, two points above Burnley and four above 18th placed Everton. A win on Monday night could close the gap to both Palace and 15th placed Aston Villa, to one point.

When the two teams met at Elland Road in November, a dramatic last minute winner came from the penalty spot. Brazilian winger Raphinha dispatched it, after the spot-kick had been awarded for a Marc Guehi handball following a VAR review.

Raphinha is now in double figures for the season after netting last time out, taking his tally to 10. For Palace, the ever-dangerous Wilfried Zaha leads their goalscoring charts, he has 11.

The man in the middle on Monday night will be Darren England. The official has overseen 19 matches this season, showing 78 yellow cards and one red in that time. He has take charge of two Leeds matches this term, both draws, at home to Everton and Leicester. His matches in charge of the Eagles have seen a 1-1 draw with Newcastle and a 2-3 defeat at home to West Ham.

Mondayโ€™s clash has been selected for live television coverage on Sky Sports. Live commentary is available as always through LUTV. Alternatively, stay right here on leedsunited.com for updates throughout the match.
