PONTUS JANSSON: WE ARE GETTING CLOSER

Defender on Swansea City.

Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson spoke to the media ahead of Wednesday’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Swansea City.

The Whites are back in action at Elland Road, looking for a 10th home league win of the campaign.

Three points could take Leeds United back to the top of the division and Jansson admitted that is where he would liek to be.

“I’d prefer to be first, it is always nice to be the first team and to be the team that people hunt,” said Jansson.

“You have to be one of the top two teams, that is the most important things and I don’t care if we come second after the season is over- the most important thing is to be one of the two.

“I think it is going to be a race until the last game, Norwich are good now, we’ve been on a run where maybe we could do better, so the late goal at the weekend was important for us.

“Hopefully this will give us extra energy for the Swansea game and hopefully we can start a new good run, which we had a few weeks ago.

“There are still 15 games to go and this league is tough, every game is competitive and hard, so you have to fight for 90 minutes.

“We realise we are getting closer, but we have to take it game by game, people are going to lose points, we are going to lose points and the only thing we can focus on is the next game which is Swansea City.

“I think for all of the teams in the top six or eight who are fighting for promotion- the pressure is going to be bigger and bigger, especially at a club like Leeds who have been at the top all season.

“People think that this is the year and we think that this is the year that we are going to go up, but there is going to be more and more pressure of course with the closer we get.

“You have to relax and like it, I love to have pressure on myself and I can take a lot of responsibility and I will do it.

“The closer we get, it is going to feel like a final in every game we play.”
