PAUL HECKINGBOTTOM: WE ARE DISAPPONTED WITH THE GOALS

Head coach on Wolves defeat.

Leeds United head coach Paul Heckingbottom spoke exclusively to LUTV following Wednesday’s defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Sky Bet Championship leaders Wolves ran out 3-0 winners at Elland Road, as the Whites suffered back to back defeats in the league.

United’s head coach was unhappy with the performance and the way his side conceded.

“We knew it was going to be a tough game, but we are disappointed with the goals that we let in,” said Heckingbottom.

“Wolves at times played some good stuff, created some chances and Bailey Peacock-Farrell made some saves.

“But the goals from two set plays and a long ball over the top is really disappointing from our point of view.

“In the first half we weren’t good enough with the ball, when you are constantly giving Wolves the ball back, especially when they are in front, you are making it hard for yourself.

“We are a team that needs the ball, with the players we have and with the balance of the squad, we are a much better team when we have the ball than when we haven’t.

“We have fallen short against the teams in the Play-Offs, we want to be there, but we have to be realistic and forget about that.

“We haven’t been consistent enough and that is what you need if you are going to be up there, we want to feel how Wolves feel in their dressing room next season.”

Despite the result, Heckingbottom did have praise for young goalkeeper Peacock-Farrell who made his second Leeds appearance in the match.

“I was pleased for Bailey, he was thrown in at the deep end against the standout team in the league.

“He was always going to be busy and he performed well, he can be pleased with himself.”
