THOMAS CHRISTIANSEN: I AM HAPPY WITH THE PERFORMANCE

Head coach on Villa draw.

Leeds United head coach was satisfied after picking up a point in the Sky Bet Championship at Elland Road against Aston Villa.

A Pontus Jansson header from a Pablo Hernandez corner gave Leeds a first half lead, but Villa pulled level in the second, thanks to substitute Henri Lansbury.

The result means the Whites have now lost just once in their last four games and sit just outside of the Play-Off places.

“I am happy with the performance of the team, especially in the first half, it was perfect,” said Christiansen.

“The attitude and effort we brought to the game was very good, we went 1-0 up at half time and we thought we could keep that result.

“We have to recognise that we faced a very good team in Aston Villa who put us under pressure in the second half.

“We had the chance to close the game and go 2-0 up when Samuel Saiz crossed and we had three arriving players unmarked, it is a shame, but we have to be satisfied with the point, perhaps a month ago we would have lost this game.

“I can see the team spirit with how we have performed in the last four games, we showed against one of the strongest teams in the league, that we are at the same level and we could have come out of this game with three points.

“We will move on to QPR now next week, I believe if we can continue in this way, we will be able to pick up a lot of points.”
